Ulun Danu Beratan

Everyone photographs Ulun Danu Beratan from the same spot on the lawn. I stepped back behind a bed of red cannas and shot through them, so the shrine sits in a gap between the petals.

The temple stands on Lake Beratan in the highlands and is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of the lake. The cloud was low over the water that day, which kept the colours soft everywhere except in the flowers.
