Longshan Temple

I went to Longshan Temple after dark, when the lanterns are lit and the gold on the carvings picks up their light. The temple was founded in the eighteenth century and rebuilt many times since, most recently after it was bombed in 1945.

I shot through the branches of a tree in the courtyard. The lantern is the brightest thing in the frame and everything else steps back from it.
